According to this story, the Duke was kept in a basket and than hung in a tree so that the soldiers could see the Duke and be encouraged to fight the war.

There is another famous story about the Manneken Pis fountain history. According to this story, the wonderful city of Brussels was attacked by great foreign power. The enemy had planned to destroy the city with explosive. A Little boy of the charming city came to know about the terrible plan of enemy. He followed the enemy group who was going to light the fuse of explosive. When the enemy group had lit the fuse and left the place, that little child ran up and urinated on the fuse thus saving the million citizen of this wonderful city.

No one knows about the true history behind the Manneken Pis fountain. It was built around 15th century. The great sculptor Jerome Duqesnoy created the Bronze version of this wonderful fountain.
